Royal Visit

In the beginning of November the Dutch heir of the crown and his wife visited New Zealand. Willem Alexander and Maxima stayed for two days in Wellington. I heard about their visit and I checked the website of the Dutch embassy about the possibilty to meet them. You had to fill in a form and send this to the embassy and than there was a draw to be invited. Although I would never have done something like this if I would have still lived in Holland. I thougth this was a good change to meet them. Especially Maxima because she seems a very nice person.

We were lucky and we did get an invitation to the reception of the Dutch community with the Royal couple. It was a very good evening, not only because we shaked hands with "Willem & Maxima" but also because the served al kind of dutch goodies like bitterballen, haring and paling. Sorry I don't know how to translate bitterballen, but it is yummie and I don't miss dutch food, but this is a real treat. Haring and paling is hering and ale. They were serving this before we met the couple. Can you imagation, meeting the royal couple, knowing you just had eaten raw fish.

I attached the official photos of our meet & greet with the royal couple. They were indeed very friendly and interested. It was a great experience.
